Hi !!!
Welcome to my blog, I’m Solita, a black, British, 22 year old, female, university student. My mother’s family are from the Caribbean island of St. Vincent and my fathers family are from New Orleans, in the states. Solita’s actually my middle name, but I like to think of my first name as my identity, and my second as my alter-ego. So, for that purpose, I’ll stick to the former.
Now that you know my demographics and my secret, the third thing you should know is that I’m OCD- not the excessive hand washing type, or the repeatedly checking door locks type, or even the hoarding type. I’m an arranger, obsessed with counting, time and checklists. I earned my stripes with a genuine love of labelling and alphabetically/ chronologically organizing paperwork. I leave an audit trail, create an excel spreadsheet and possess a lever arch folder for pretty much every aspect of my life and not to brag, but in terms of efficiency, I have been compared to that of a German car or “the Man” from the Legomovie. Just think of me as a Quality Assurance system where everything must always have a place, be fit for purpose and be right the first time.
That being said, I’m also 100% business. I perceive everything in my life as an investment of my resources i.e. Time, Money and Effort. I have a tendency to weigh up the opportunity cost (Short-term costs Vs Long-term benefits) of my every decision and make calculated risks only when I feel confident that I will generate some kind of a return. I refuse to be wasteful with my resources but I cherish the things I know will last.
I’m also currently attending University in central London studying towards my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. I actually like to do lots of different psychological questionnaires to help me uncover the details that make me me, so if you also enjoy that kind of thing, see my Personality page, I’ll post my results there, along with links to the tests in case you want to find out about yourself too. That way, the more I learn about myself, the more I can tell you.
Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom~ Aristotle.
My reasons for choosing to share my life with you all publicly online?
I’ve detailed everything on my Enterprise page, but ultimately…
It’s Therapeutic. My very own anxiety outlet… Some people have stress balls, write lyrics or draw pictures. And other people might go shopping or spend all their time in the gym. I pen anything and everything that’s on my mind, then I present these thoughts in a beautifully structured way.
It’s Business. This is an opportunity to organize and share my style, my interests and my pura vida principles with the online community, to build affiliations with my favorite retailers and, to take advantage of the creative tools that we’re fortunate enough to have, with such huge advances in technology over recent years .
& It’s Personal. All my life I’ve kept a diary, to document my good and bad experiences and to make note of the lessons I’ve learned from them. And one day, I intend to pass down this knowledge and wisdom to my children. Should they ever happen to be struggling with something that I’ve been through myself or have observed someone else going through, then I want to educate them in their choices, make them aware of all their options before they act in whichever way they feel is best, and help ensure they lead independent lives with no regrets. I figured a website would be an innovative and fun way for me to achieve this. However, as I found the prospect of being able to share my experiences and memoirs truly exciting, I thought to myself, why limit myself to my children? So I really hope that the lessons I’ve learned, the principles I live by and the advice I give in my blog comes in handy for all my readers too.
As time goes by, this blog will most likely venture off course and become something entirely different to what I intended. I hope that it will become a hub of various topics and discussions and a place that people truly find interesting.
Yours,
Solita xx

Inspired by a combination of Cher Horrowitz and Polyvore, I have now successfully built my own virtual wardrobe!!! It wasn’t easy and has by far been the most time consuming project of my entire life but, as I already had the content I needed from the closet audit I recently conducted, I knew it would be worth it in the long run plus, I’m all about investing in the bigger picture.
I designed it so that every individual item of clothing and accessory I own has a unique position within a collage. The must-have pieces e.g. outerwear, shoes and bags can be found on the left/ centre of the collage and the optional extra’s such as hats, belts and jewellery can be found in a column on the right. Collectively the items form an interchangeable outfit. There are 5 categories altogether, to allow for the maximum number of possible combinations.
Not to brag but ohhh- the cleverness of me…
